Three more stations gets Google's RailWire free WiFi services
Railtel and Google has launched RailWire free WiFi services in three more stations – Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Kachiguda (Telangana) & Raipur (Chhattisgarh) in India.
The free WiFi service was initially launched at Mumbai Central station earlier this year in January, and extended the service to nine more stations last month.
To get access to free WiFi service, you'll have to select RailWire network on you devices WiFi setting, go to railwire.co.in from your devices browser, enter your phone number on the WiFi login screen and request for OTP SMS. Once you get the 4-digit OTP code, enter it in the log in screen and press on 'Done'.
The connection is fast enough to stream a HD video, but there is no word on bandwidth consumption limits, however, Google states that the connection will be throttled after the first hour of usage to prevent misuse.
Soon, the free WiFi service will be expanded to 14 more stations including Allahabad, Bhopal, Pune, Ranchi, Ernakulum Jn. (Kochi), Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati, Ujjain, Vishakhapatnam, Lucknow, Lucknow Jn (NE), Gorakhpur & Sealdah.
Google has already said that by the end of this year, 100 station will get free WiFi, and eventually roll out to cover 400 stations acorss the country in three years.
