Android Marshmallow now rolling out to Asus ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML / ZE550ML)

Asus after rolling out Android Marshmallow to ZenFone Max 2015 and ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL/ZE550KL), has now released the same update for ZenFone 2 ZE551ML and ZE550ML models across the globe.

The update comes with the usual Android Marshmallow treats such as Google Now on Tap, Doze Mode, App Permissions, and more. It also removes some pre-installed apps like Asus Email, Asus Messenger, and Asus Calendar, instead you'll have to useGmail, Google Calendar and Google Messenger.

Also note that the Marshmallow build will not support Apps2SD (apps to SD card) functionality, so you will have to move the apps to internal storage before updating you device to the new OS.

The Android Marshmallow update for ZenFon 2 weighs 1.1GB and is being rolled out OTA (over-the-air) in phases, so it will take nearly a week to reach all devices. If you've not been notified of the update yet, you can check for the availability manually by going to Settings > About > System update.

• Software update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Internal storage will decrease slightly after update, it is recommended back-up data and relocate media files (pictures & vides) to SD card to reserve enough storage before starting the software update.
• Android Marshmallow won’t support APP2SD. Please move apps to internal storage before system upgrades.
• Multi-user function won’t be supported if the account is deleted. Please keep your account to continue usage.
• The apps listed below will no longer be pre-loaded once your device has been upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

• This update will remove ASUS Email, ASUS Calendar, ASUS Messaging, and won’t be preloaded in this software version. You can use Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Messenger for relevant services.
