Apple's updated tvOS brings new Siri capabilities and single sign-on to Apple TV

Apple at WWDC 2016 announced that it will bring new features to its Apple TV this fall with the updated tvOS like deeper integration of Siri, new single sign-in option and more.

With expanded Siri capabilities, Apple TV users can search across more apps such as YouTube, top-search or even tuning right into more live channels.The new single sign-in option, Apple TV users can authenticate all the video channels from their pay-TV providers by simply signing in once to watch all of their network TV apps.

Apple's Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services said that Siri on Apple TV has changed the way users interact with TV. Cue stressed that future of TV is apps and revealed that Apple TV has over 6,000 apps and 1,300 video channels.

Some of the new features of Siri include Topic search for movies, YouTube search, Live tune-in (ask Siri to go directly to a live channel inside app), answer queries for a movie by topic or theme and Manage HomeKit accessories (lights, temperatures). Apple said that Siri feature for Apple TV will be expanded to more countries.

The new single sign-on for Pay-TV apps will be available to U.S customers on both Apple TV and iOS. Starting this fall users have to only sign in once on Apple TV to access their favorite video channels that are part of pay-TV subscription, so you don't have to sign-in individually for each app.

Other features include:

iOS users will be able to download the new Apple TV Remote app with touch navigation, Siri, and game play support with gesture tracking.

Photos for Apple TV now support new Memories feature

Universal apps will now automatically download on Apple TV
When keyboard appeard on Apple TV, one will also appear on nearby iOS devices that are logged into same iCloud account.

The tvOS developer preview is available immediately for Developer and the public release will come later this fall around September-October.
