Google introduces Nearby for Android to discover apps, websites based on location
Google has introduced a new service called Nearby that recommends you apps and website based on your current location.
The Nearyby features uses your current coordinates via GPS, and uses Bluetooth connectivity (both needs to be turned on) to offer you app suggestions depending on your location. For example, while you're waiting for your flight, you'll be suggested the the airlines app in case you want it, or when you're exploring historical landmarks and to make your visit more trivial, the Nearby feature will suggest you a related app.
"To use Nearby, just turn on Bluetooth and Location, and we'll show you a notification if a nearby app or website is available. Once you’ve opted-in, tapping on a notification takes you straight into the intended experience. If you're not interested, just swipe it away to give us a clear signal." said Google in a blog post
Some of the first apps to take advantage of the Nearby feature include CVS, United Airlines, The University of Notre Dame, and The Broad Museum.
If you have Google Cast or Android wear device, you will get a notification on your smartphone to set them up and with a single tap you can accept the request.
Nearby is part of Google Play Services update and will working on devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and up.
