SanDisk announces Extreme UHS-I world’s fastest 256GB microSD card


Western Digital owned SanDisk has announced a new 256GB SandDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card, the fastest microSD card in its class. It offers transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s and write speeds of up to 90MB/s. Users can record up to 14 hours of 4K UHD video on the microSD card, making it ideal for high-performance drones, action camera and 4K-capable smartphones among other devices.

The company also introduced 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card Premium Edition that offers transfer speed of 95MB/s, making it ideal for Android smartphones and tablet. The card is capable of storing more than 24 hours of 1080p video.

Both the microSD cards are waterproof, temperature proof, shock proof and X Ray proof. They are compatible with microSDHC and microSDXC supporting host devices.

The 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, Premium Edition, will be available worldwide in August 2016 with a MSRP of $149.99 (Rs. 10,000). The 256GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card will be available worldwide in Q4 2016 with a MSRP of $199.99 (13,500).
