Xiaomi's 6.44-inch Mi Max launching in India on June 30

Xiaomi's big-screened phablet the Mi Max is coming soon to India. The Chinese smartphone brand has scheduled an event in India on June 30 for the launch of Mi Max. India will be the first market outside China to get the Mi Max.

To recap the Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Max in China last month, and is the brand's first device to runs MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow. It went on sale in China last month itself, and Xiaomi reveled that the first flash sale got over 16 million registrations. The Mi Max sports a metal build, and features 6.44-inch 1080p display, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, Hybrid dual-SIM slot, fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE (w/ VoLTE) and 4850mAh battery.The Xiaomi Mi Max comes in three variants —

Snapdragon 650 SoC + 3GB RAM + 32GB storage
Snapdragon 652 SoC + 3GB RAM + 64GB storage
Snapdragon 652 SoC + 4GB RAM + 128GB storage

It's not clear which Mi Max variant Xiaomi will launch in India. As for the pricing, in China, the base model of Mi Max costs CNY 1499 that converts to INR 15,500 so we can expect it to be priced somewhere around that.

In the Indian smartphone market, Xiaomi's Mi Max will compete in the phablet segment with the 6.8-inch Lenovo Phab Plus, 6-inch YU Yureka Note and the 6-inch Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE601KL.
