Xiaomi launches new QiCycle folding electric bike in China
Xiaomi, expanding its diversification into new product categories, has announced the QiCycle, its first foldable electric bike in China. The electric bike has been developed under its new sub-brand Mi Ecosystem, also known as MIJIA. Thanks to the foldable design, the QiCycle can be easily fitted into a trunk of a hatchback.
The QiCycle offers a maximum speed of 20km/h and utilizes 250W 36V high-speed motor, which lets you ride on steep roads easily. It uses a Torque Measurement Method (TMM) sensing technology to assist the pedaling action, which can sense, how much effort you're putting into the pedaling to automatically provide you with enough power from the electric motor, to make you're ride more comfortable.
The electric cycle has Shinamo gear shift system that comes in easy, standard and fast modes. This offers easy riding even if the bike runs out of charge. It has intelligent motion data monitoring to keep track of speed, mileage, dynamic power, and fitness related stats like calories burnt when riding.
The data are shown on the 1.8-inch screen of the cycle, and can also be synced to a dedicated app (for smartphone) through Bluetooth 4.1 LE. It is fueled by a massive Panasonic 18650mAh battery, which can last up to 45km in a single charge.
Xiaomi's QiCycle has been certified by European electric vehicle standard and is IPX5 certified, making it water resistant, to safeguard it from electronic components. It weighs 13.5kg and sports a lightweight aluminum frame design.
Priced at CNY 2999 ($455 | Rs. 31,000), the QiCycle comes in Black, White and Red colors, and will be available in China starting today via Crowdfunding.
