Acer Chromebook with MediaTek processor coming soon

Acer is reportedly working on a new Chromebook dubbed Chromebook R13 (CB5-312T) with MediaTek's processor inside. This will be the first Chromebook to utilize MediaTek's processor.

Acer's Chromebook R13 is expected to feature MediaTek MT8173 processor which has quad-core chip with 2 x ARM Cortex A-72 CPU cores, 2 x Cortex-A53 cores and PowerVR GX6250 graphics.

Other features include 13-inch 1080p touchscreen display, 4GB RAM, 16GB/32Gb storage options, WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0. It is not known whether the Chomebook will be just a laptop, or a convertible like the Chromebook R11 with touchscreen and 360-degee hinge that allows you to fold the screen back and use it like table.

As for the pricing, given the fact that MediaTek is known for its low-cost chipset, we can expect Acer Chromebook R13, to be priced aggressively. If an online listing is accurate, it will be priced around Euro 399 ($441 | Rs. 30,000), but do take the information with a pinch of salt.
