Checking Connection Speed? Ookla Has Got Your Back!
Internet is everywhere nowadays, and what most people tend to do when running a new wifi (especially hotels) or any near free hotspots is checking the internet speed. This has always been a way to know about what and in how much quantity you may be able to surf or download the stuff you want. Whenever the speed checking throws in your mind the only reliable and popular source comes first is the speedtest.net by Ookla. The site is majorly used for grabbing a check on your connection speed and now its even more easier as the company has pushed a Chrome Extension for the same.
The extension is now working on Windows, MacOS and undoubtedly ChromeOS, not to mention is freely availble from Chrome Web Store for all. Its takes around 4.5mb to download and once downloaded you will see the speedometer icon right next to the URL bar of chrome which is by default the place for extensions of the browser.
Once downloaded you can head over to any website and click on the icon for the extension that popups this side menu that doesn't takes up much space of the page and is basically cleaner and easily understandable UI. What's good here is that it also shows how much time it took to load a particular website right at the bottom of this menu. Overall speed is also mentioned once you tap go, yes it takes sometime to give you the results.
The shot above gives the glimpse of how the results are pulled and showed over the menu which is a great thing as you no longer have to go on the speedtest website just open page and click the icon and boom you have it all! Cheers to developer for that.
