Dell discontinues Android-based Venue tablet line, won't push new updates to existing ones

Dell has revealed that it will not launch any new tablets in its Android-based Venue family any more. The company will also stop pushing out OS updates to the Venue tablets that are already sold to customers, but will continue to support current active warranties and service contracts, until they expire.

Instead Dell will concentrate its focus on selling 2-in-1 tablets and notebooks running Windows 10. This is mostly due to the fact that tablet market is experiencing a declining demand from consumer, while the 2-in-1s market is on rise, since they can serve as both tablets and laptops.

Dell will also discontinue Android based Wyse Cloud Connect PC on Stick that connects to HDMI enabled TV or monitor.

Dell has released a number of Android tablets over the past few years including the Venue 10 7000 series with impressive features like OLED screen and 3D RealSense camera. However the company will continue selling Chromebook with Chrome OS.
