Google Maps gets cleaner look and new area of interest

Google Maps for Android, iOS and desktop is getting a makeover. The latest update to Maps brings a cleaner design and visual improvements.

Maps now offers a more cleaner look as it gets rid of some of the unnecessary elements like road outlines to make it easier to see helpful and actionable information like traffic and transit. Maps is also getting improved typography of street names, points of interest, transit stations, and more to distinguish it from other things on the map, thereby improving navigation.

The update also adds new orange spots to represent area of interests like restaurants, bars and shops. When you find orange-shaded area on Maps, you can zoom in or swipe to see more details about each venue and tap on them for more info.

Lastly, the update includes some changes to the maps' colors so that users can identify man-made and natural features, and quickly identify places like hospitals, schools or highways.

Just a day back, Google Maps for Android got WiFi only mode and mass transit delay notification.
