Android One smartphones were first introduced in 2014, aimed at emerging markets, with affordable price tag, that don't offer impressive hardware. Now Sharp has unveiled Japan's first Android One smartphone dubbed Sharp 507SH. The phone is the first Android One device to have IPX5/IPX8 and IP5X ratings making it water and dust resistant.

The Android Marshmallow running Sharp 507SH features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IGZO LCD display with 2.5D edges and Gorilla Glass 4 on top and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt expandable storage. It gets 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE (w/ VoLTE), WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC. It is backed by 3010mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to three days of regular usage.

Sharp says that the phone will receive latest software updates for atleast 18 months after launch.

The Sharp 507SH will available in Japan via Y! Mobile (SoftBank's sub-brand) later this month. The official pricing has not been revealed. It comes in Black, White or Cyan color options.
