Samsung Galaxy Wide with 5.5-inch display, 13MP camera announced
Samsung has announced the latest member of its Galaxy family in South Korea, the Galaxy Wide. The phone carries model number SM-G600S, and is a re-branded Galaxy On7 (SM-G600), since both phones model number are nearly identical except to the addition of 'S'. The Galaxy Wide features improved specs and has been optimized for the carrier bands operating in Samsung's home country. It is headed to SK Telecom.
The Samsung Galaxy Wide features 5.5-inch HD (1280 x720 pixels) TFT LCD display (instead of Super AMOLED) and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor backed by Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB, which can be further increased via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI on top.
The rear facing camera is a 13-megapixel unit accompanied by LED and can record up to 1080p resolution videos. For selfies and video calls, there's 5-megapixel front camera. Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It also includes a T-DMB chip which allows users to tune in to digital terrestrial broadcast channels in the region. A 3000mAh battery rounds off the spec sheet.
For comparison, the Galaxy On7 features Super AMOLED display, 1.5GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
The Samsung Galaxy Wide has been priced at 319,000 Korean Won ($276 | Rs. 18,600), and will be exclusively available through SK Telecom in South Korea later this month.
