GIF Support Comes To WhatsApp Beta, Here's How To Send
WhatsApp has been adding various useful features lately and GIF Support was first slated in June where we were brought in attention to it and now that leak seems to be in a working mode with WhatsApp beta 2.16.242 to be exact (you need to be on this version to use GIF). Process to send and receive GIFs is actually not proper and there needs to be a direct GIF button in attachments.
There are two ways to send the GIF, One is by attaching existing media(video) from you gallery and other by recording on the go and send it as GIF
Now the above image has a tiny GIF button at the top right corner, this tiny little toggle is the key thing in the process and steps are here
- Select existing media or record directly from the attachements
- Now head over to trimming section and there you can see that top right toggle (which changes between camcorder icon and GIF icon) to send video as video or to send video as GIF.
- Now make sure that toggle is switched to GIF
- Trim your video.
- Hit send
The sender and receiver both should be on version 2.16.242 or above to see videos as GIF
This will send your trimmed video as GIF and will play automatically non stop after downloading, without audio because that's what GIFs are meant to.
Sure that process is kind of complicated and we need to have a direct GIF button in attachment, ARE YOU HEARING WHATSAPP?
Well, if you want to get your hands on it head over to Play Store's Beta Program For WhatsApp or if you are much into sideloading you can always rely on APKMirror for that Here's The APK Link
