Samsung's 14nm Exynos 7570 processor for mid-range phones enters mass production
Samsung has announced that it has begun mass production of its newest mobile application processor, the Exynos 7 Quad 7570 processor for mobile platform. It will be used in budget smartphones and IoT (Internet-of-things) products.
The chipset is built on 14nm FinFET process technology making it highly power-efficient and at the same time offering outstanding performance.
The Exynos 7570 with four Cortex-A53 cores in 14nm will offer 70 percent improvements in CPU performance and 30 percent improvement in power efficiency, when compared to its predecessor built on 28nm. In addition, the total chipset size is reduced by up to 20 percent, giving manufacturers the ability to make slimmer phones.
Samsung says that Exynos 7570 is the first Exynos processor to fully integrate Cat.4 LTE 2CA modem and other connectivity solutions including WiFi, Bluetooth, FM and global navigation satellite system in one chip. Other features of Exynos 7570 include support for up to WXGA screen resolution, 1080p video playback and recording and improved ISP for 8MP/13MP front and back cameras.
Samsung hasn't revealed when Exynos 7570 will start shipping, but with the SoC in mass production it is likely to arrive in Q3 or Q4 2016. A recent Geekbench listing suggested that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy On5 2016 will utilize the Exynos 7570 SoC.
