Alcatel Vision VR headset, 360-degree camera announced

Alcatel has announced two new products aimed at virtual experience – the Vision VR headset and 360 Camera. The Vision is a standalone and wireless VR headset, which means it does not require a PC or smartphone to work. Alcatel touts that Vision VR headset offers 120 degrees field of vision and lowest latency that is currently available at 17 milliseconds.

The Vision VR  headset runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has dual 3.8-inch AMOLED display, each with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It features octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, LTE, Bluetooth and WiFi,  and accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery, and Alcatel says that the Vision can be worn comfortably for two to three hours, with or without glasses.

Alcatel has also partnered with Jaunt VR, Magic Interactive Entertainment and Fraunhofer to offer contents for its VR headset. The company promises to provide 100 VR optimized videos and more that 50 games to play when the headset releases.

Next is the 360 Camera that comes in two shapes – rectangular and round and features dual 210-degree fisheye lens. It doesn't have a battery or supports wireless connectivity like other 360 camera in the this segment. Instead, the 360 Camera plugs to the smartphone via micro-USB to preview and share captured photos. Currently the accessory works with Alcatel's Idol, Idol 4S and Pop 4s phones.

The Alcatel Vision will be priced around €499-599 (Rs 37,000 - 45,000), but there's no word on availability. The Alcatel 360 costs ,€99 (Rs. 7,400), and will go on sale by the end of this year.
