Exclusive: Google is Slated To Sell off an Important Divison of Project Ara to Manufacturers

Just a week after Reuters reported that Google has suspended it's modular smartphone project, our friends over at Google have informed us that Google is in talks with a couple of manufacturers to sell off a division of Project Ara.

As Reuters had mentioned in their report that "While Google will not be releasing the phone itself, the company may work with partners to bring Project Ara’s technology to market, potentially through licensing agreements".

We have been tipped here that Samsung is amongst the manufacturers who are in talks with Google, with the former being the one to initiate the talks.

While Google had confirmed that they have shelved Project Ara for now, no reasons were stated for the same. However, we are told here that the general consensus amongst the people who were associated with this project was rather "not too exciting". They seem to have doubted the feasibility of this project which unfortunately lead to an overall decline in the innovation strategies which were meant to counter the unexpectedly high number of obstacles that paved the path to Project Ara's succes. By the end of this year's first quarter, it was a well believed notion inside Google that Project Ara's fate is doomed.
