Google's Much Awaited Allo Messaging App Coming On September 21
Everyone has been waiting for Allo from the day it was showcased at Google I/O. Later on Google released Duo which created enough buzz to take the Allo back again in headlines and now, Right at the end of Summer, Google is slated to release the app on September 21.
The source to this information intially goes with Evan Blass on Twitter, as he first mentioned only the release for this week, but he later added the date 21 September to that post. Now, what does this hint mean? Folks over at Reddit embarked on a mission to crack this. One of them posted that "Magellan embarked on his trip around the world on September 20". That should have been today then, right? But, Google didn't announce anything today, but it just might happen tomorrow!
While people were going crazy for Allo, they asked Justin Uberti (Technical Lead and Co Lead for Duo and Allo respectively) at Twitter for any hints for the release, to which he replied "AROUND THE WORLD". This turned into a big twitter conversation in the end.
Now why September 21? It's because September 21 is the last day of summer this year and Google had promised that Allo will be out in summer. Google is going to put up an event on the same day in Seattle, which Justin Uberti announced on Twitter:
While there are still no changes to Allo icon on the Play Store, this might go to a new face at the moment of release. Keep watching this space as we dive deep into Allo once it is released.
