New App: YouTube Go for Indian Audience
At an event in Delhi, Google unveiled the YouTube Go app for India (yet to release), focusing on Indian consumers and the problem with slow speed internet including 2G Internet too which is a great thing for low data consumption users. The app has been made to facilitate the users who have limited data and need to watch online videos for various purposes. YouTube Go can be defined as the data efficient or data friendly version of the original Youtube app. Here's the app icon -
Clearly YouTube is making great efforts to accompany users. After the decent success rate for Offline feature of the app, YouTube partnered with Airtel in the country to promote the Offline feature but it seems like it didn't go well. So Google comes to the rescue with this new app which is slated to be released by 2017. Here's the look of the User Interface
The appreciable feature is the Video Preview which shows you what's inside the video first so that you can choose to watch it or not based on the previews. Great there! YouTube Go is supposed to work fine on 2G data too, so it's the Indian Audience who will decide the success meter of this new release by Google. Another great feature comes in the form of Video Sharing to friends via Bluetooth, seriously these features should come to original YouTube mobile application too.
