Google undercuts the Amazon Echo at $129, will be available in November

Google unveiled its Amazon echo-competitor smart home speaker called Google Home at it I/O event back in May. Now the company has officially revealed the pricing and availability details. 

Google Home comes with Google Assistant built-in and can be activated using the hot word 'Ok Google' followed by voice commands. You can command the device to play music, manage day-to-day tasks, and get answers to questions. It can also play music from services like Spotify, YouTube Music, Google Play Music, Pandora and TuneIn. You can also stream music directly from your smartphone to 100+ Cast-enabled apps, which is available for Android and iOS devices.

The device also connects with smart home products such as Nest thermostats, Philips Hue and Samsung SmartThings. For instance, when you enter your house you can say 'Ok Google, turn on the lights' and the action will be performed. Additionally, if you have Chromecast connected to your TV, you can ask Google Home to stream YouTube video directly to your TV.

Google Home features a capacitive touch surface to control it when required. Its audio capabilities are boasted by 2-inch speaker driver along with dual 2-inch passive radiators. The base comes in several hues and finishes, while the top portion remains the same.

Google Home is priced at $129 (Rs. 8,720) and is now up for pre-order via Google Store, Best Buy, Target and Walmart with the shipping commencing on November 4.
