Oppo launches R9s and R9s Plus with 6GB RAM, 16MP camera

Oppo has officially announced the R9s and R9s Plus flagship smartphones in China. 

The Oppo R9s Plus is the brand's first smartphone to boast 6GB RAM, and is also the first mobile device to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 653 processor which is 10 percent faster than Snapdragon 652. The Oppo R9s on the other hand is powered by Snapdragon 625 processor and packs 4GB RAM.

The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus share quite a few specifications including metal unibody design and fingerprint scanner baked into the home button. They come with 64GB expandable storage, Android Marshmallow based ColorOS 3.0, 4G VoLTE, hybrid dual-SIM slots, WiFi 802.11ac and support for VOOC Flash Charge fast charging technology which promises to deliver two hours of talk time with just five minutes of charging.

The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus have 16MP Sony IMX398 rear camera with dual-focus technology, f/1.7 apeture and 4K video recording. The camera of R9s Plus gets  a dual-tone LED flash and OIS+ support for recording blur free videos. On the front there's 16MP selfie shooter.

Individually the Oppo R9s has a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with Cornings Gorilla Glass 5 Protection and a 3010mAh battery, while the Oppo R9s Plus comes with a bigger 6-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with Gorilla Glass 5 on top and a beefier 4000mAh battery.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Oppo R9s is costs CNY 2799 (approx. 27,700), while the R9s Plus is priced CNY 3,499 (approx. Rs. 34,600) and comes in gold, rose gold and black colors. The R9s will go on sale in China from October 28, while the R9s Plus will be available in December.
