Samsung Galaxy Note7 customers will be offered Galaxy S8, Note8 under new upgrade program

Samsung has announced a new upgrade program for its Galaxy Note7 customer in South Korea. Under the new program, customers who've replaced their Galaxy Note7s for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge will be given an opportunity to upgrade their device to Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy Note8 at up to 50 percent discount.

This also indicates that Samsung's 'Note' branding is still well and alive, and Samsung is not planning to kill the Note series line up altogether as speculated earlier.

Providing more details on the upgrade program, Samsung said that, customers getting Galaxy S7 or S7 edge under 24-month contract will need to pay monthly fee for only 12 months (50 percent) until they trade it for a Galaxy S8 or Note 8 next year. If the customers wish to change to any another smartphone before a year, they will have to pay up to those 12 months only.

These customers will also be provided with additional benefits like fast track service for after-sales support and 50 percent discount on LCD repair costs.

At the moment it is not known if Samsung plans to extend this program to other markets besides South Korea.
