Xiaomi Mi Note 2 goes official with curved display, Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB RAM
Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Mi Note 2, its latest flagship in China. It is the successor to last year's Mi Note and is the company's first to sport a dual-curved display similar to the likes of Galaxy S7 edge and Note7. The Mi Note 2 also boasts Qualcomm's Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner which is integrated into the phone's virtual home button. Design-wise, its sports curved 3D glass on both front and back and uses Series 7 aluminum in its construction.
Coming to the specs, the Mi Note 2 has a 5.7-inch QHD OLED Sunlight Display Pro, Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM and 6GB RAM/128GB storage. It runs MIUI 8 based Android Marshmallow.
The camera department is handled by a 22.56MP Sony IMX318 rear camera with EIS (electronic image stabilization), f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording and dual-LED flash. The main camera also includes a dedicated 3-axis gyroscope that works in tandem with EIS for 4K video stabilization. For selfies and video calling there's 8MP Sony IMX258 camera.
In terms of connectivity, Mi Note 2 has support for 37 global networks, 4G LTE+ with up to 600Mbps download speeds, VoLTE, dual-SIM slots, NFC, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with SAP and USB Type-C port. A 4070mAh battery runs the whole show which supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The Mi Note 2 will arrive in three variants: 4GB RAM/64GB storage priced at CNY 2799 ($410 | Rs. 28,000), 6GB RAM/128GB priced at CNY 3299 ($486 | Rs. 32,500) and global 6GB RAM/128GB storage/ global LTE bands (6 types, 37 bands) priced at CNY 3499 ($516 | Rs. 34,500). It is now available for order in China and goes on sale from November 1 in Piano Black and Glacier Silver. The Mi Note 2 is also expected to hit international markets as well thanks to the wide-LTE support.
