Android Nougat Update Confirmed For Android One First Gen Devices
We had previously mentioned in one of our leaks that all the generations of the Android One devices will be getting the Nougat upgrade. As it happens, the third generation devices including the Sharp Aquos 570SH and General Mobile GM5 Plus have already received the update. On the other hand, the Qualcomm variants of the second generation have received the update as well, while the Mediatek variants of the same are still hanging on to the October security patch (which was rolled out in November), even though we are just a day away from December.
Since there was no news of the Nougat update for the first generation devices in the hindsight, we decided to reach out to the OEM partners involved in the making of the Android One first generation devices and ask them the same. We reached out to MITO Mobiles, the manufacturer of Impact A10, in a formal manner and they have confirmed to us that the MITO Impact A10 will be getting the Nougat update.
Wondering about the ETAs? No worries, we have got you covered up here as well. The rollout is slated to begin in the second half of December. We have been informed that the update will be rolled out in batches. The update will be extended to a small fraction of users on the first day of the rollout, followed by a broader rollout each following day.
Evercoss, the manufacturer of One X, confirmed the same individually.
Nougat 7.1 is already a part of the Pixel smartphones and it is also being tested out on the Nexus devices by Google in the form of preview builds. Moreover, the stable version of Nougat 7.1 might be released on December 6 as well. We were thus hoping that the December update will directly bring Nougat 7.1 to the Android One devices. However, MITO has said that the December update will be composed of Nougat 7.0.
We do hope for Nougat 7.1 being extended to Android One in a future update though.
