Apple to repair iPhone 6 Plus 'touch disease' for $149
Back in August, several users of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were facing a "touch disease" problem, which caused the iPhones to freeze and become unresponsive to touch showing a flickering grey bar at the top of the display.
The issue was first discovered by iFixit, and now after three months Apple has acknowledged the problem and rolled out a new world-wide "Multi-Touch Repair Program for the iPhone 6 Plus".
Apple says that the issue was caused by dropping the iPhones on a hard surface multiple time and then incurring further stress. The cost of the repair will not be covered, and those affected by the problem have to pay $149 (Rs. 10,000) to have the screen fixed.
Apple also said that it will reimburse users who might have paid for a service repair related to this issue either Apple or other other authorized service centre. The reimbursement amount will equal the difference between the price paid for the service and the repair program price of $148.
Note that Apple will fix the touch disease issue only if your iPhone 6 Plus is in working order and display is not cracked or broken.
