Cyanogen Keeps On Going With Layoffs!
Changes seem to be unstoppable for Cyanogen Inc at the moment since the company now appears to be gearing off for even more layoffs. Recently some major changes were introduced to the company's structure and leadership arena (which we reported about here) where in Lior Tal got the CEO's chair. Cyanogen's downfall seems to have even brought the Android community kind of down for sometime as well and the ROM world has eagerly been waiting for the company to gear up into action so that Cyanogen can bring even more customizations to the table, something it has been known to do eminently for a long time and CyanogenMod is the very reason why aftermarket device modification became so popular. Some hope was regained when CM14.1 was introduced. But now with more layoffs in the hindsight, the hope is going down the drain.
Now, the current situation is the "Layoff Sequel", as we would like to call it. The company is going to shutdown it's Seattle headquarters and this will be announced 'in the ear' style (just kidding, will be announced internally).
In the light of that, the company has thrown in the option for it's Seattle employees to relocate to the smaller office in Palo Alto. Refusing to that some employees have already left the company.
Reduction in authority and structure continues here and one can't guess the exact reason as to why all this is happening. Cyanogen's downfall seems to the only eminent reason for this at the moment, but let's hope for the best because Cyanogen is one of the main reasons why Android is loved so much.
