Wileyfox Announces Swift 2 & Swift 2 Plus Budget Smartphones

UK handset maker Wileyfox has announced the successor devices to last year's Wileyfox Swift. The budget duo of Wileyfox Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus are priced at £159 and £189 respectively.

Both the Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus are powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and a 2700 mAh battery. Through the means of Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0, both the devices can attain 50% battery level in a span of 30 minutes. 

Other common specifications among the two include support for NFC & Android Pay, presence of a Type C USB 2.0 port, fingerprint scanner, 5" 720p HD display, 4G LTE and dual sim functionality.

Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus 

The Swift 2 comes with 2GB of RAM, 13MP/8MP camera and along with 16GB of internal memory. For extra £30, the Swift 2 Plus gets a bump with a 16MP/8MP camera, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. Memory on both the devices can be further expanded to 64GB with the help of a SD card. 

In comparison to their predecessor Swift, the Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus have received an upgrade from the plastic texture back in the Swift to an aluminum metal back. There are more coloring options too this year. Both the Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus are available in Midnight Blue, Rose Pink and Champagne Gold variants.

The Swift 2 duo runs on the Marshmallow 6.0.1 based CyanogenOS 13.1. Cyanogen had recently announced changes to their leadership team with Lior Tal taking over as Cyanogen's new CEO. At the same time, Cyanogen had also said that it had abandoned it's development of CyanogenOS in order to work on it's new 'Modular OS', wherein Cyanogen plans to partner with device manufacturers in order to help them in the development of software on their devices. Taking into consideration the fact that Cyanogen has abandoned CyanogenOS and that Nougat 7.1 has been released by Google, it would be interesting to see how Wileyfox handles the updates for these devices.

Both the devices are up for preorders on Amazon and from November 14 (the official release day), they will be available on both Amazon and Wileyfox's website.
