Windows 10 VR Headset minimum PC requirements revealed
Microsoft at its Windows 10 event last month announced that it has partnered with various PC makers to bring Windows 10 compatible virtual reality headsets starting at $299. The VR headsets will be powered by Microsoft's own VR Platform using Windows Holographic, which will be included in Windows 10 Creators update, scheduled to roll out early 2017.
The company has now confirmed the minimum PC requirements to run these headsets. A few days back Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14971, in which it included a 'Windows Holographic First Run" app.
The app basically performs a check whether your PC meets the minimum requirement to work with the upcoming Windows 10 VR headsets. It turns out that the minimum requirements necessary are not much demanding and are quite basic.
To meet the minimum requirements, you'll need to have a Windows 10 PC with at least 4GB RAM, a USB 3.0, a graphic card that supports DirectX 12 and 4 CPU cores, including dual-core processors with hyperthreading. Note that the minimum requirements is enough to experience basic VR experiences and not the full potential of VR experiences.
VR headsets built on Windows Holographic platform will debut in 2017, and will be available from Microsoft partners such as HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer and Asus. Microsoft is also expected to reveal more details about its Windows Holographic VR platform and VR headsets at an event in December.
