Xiaomi Redmi 4 with octa-core SoC, 3GB RAM, 4100mAh battery announced
Xiaomi has launched a couple of high-end phones within the last two months, including the Snapdragon 821 powered Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus, the Mi Note 2 and Mi MIIX bezel-less concept smartphones. Now Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi 4, its latest budget smartphone, in home-market of China.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 sports a premium metal unibody design with a fingerprint scanner located at its rear. It sports 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB RAM. The storage capacity on-board is 32GB, which can be further increased via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The camera department includes 13MP rear unit with dual-LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF, and a 5MP selfie shooter at the front. Connectivity duties are handled by hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It runs MIUI 8 based Android marshmallow and is backed by a beefy 4100mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Xiaomi also introduced a downgraded variant of Redmi 4 with 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Rest of the specifications are identical to the Snapdragon 625 powered Redmi 4.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes in Silver, Grey and Gold color. The base model with Snapdragon 430 SoC is priced at CNY 699 ($103 | Rs. 7,000), while the high-end version with Snapdragon 625 SoC costs CNY 899 ($133 | Rs. 9,000). Looking at the popularity of Redmi series in India, we can expect the Redmi 4 to land in the country soon.
