Three iPhones reportedly coming in 2017, including top-end Ferrari model
Multiple reports in the past have suggested that Apple will release three iPhones next year ― the usual iPhone 7s (4.7-inch) and iPhone 7s Plus (5.5-inch) and a premium model called iPhone 8 ― marking 10 years of iPhones. Now a fresh rumor sheds some more lights on next year's iPhones. The leak comes from manufacturing documents reportedly sourced from Apple's East Asian Supply Chain.
In line with previous reports, the manufacturing documents suggest that three new iPhones are apparently in the works with model number D20, D21 and D22. The report says that D20 and D21 could be the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, and might not come with huge upgrades.
The most interesting is the D22 model which is internally referred as "Ferrari' supposed to be the iPhone 8. The documents reveal the this model is expected to boast a glass sandwich design, border-less OLED display, an invisible home button, wireless charging and much more.
There will be changes inside the Ferrari model as well. It will have its logic board divided into two parts: one to house the A11 chipset and NAND flash storage, while the second board will have WiFi and cellular components. The two units will be connected by a flex cable. A similar layout is reportedly implemented in the the iPad Pro as well. Apple is also said to be relocating SIM card tray towards the bottom of the device to make space for internal components.
With major design changes, the iPhone 8 is considered as one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of 2017. An earlier report from Wall Street Journal said that Apple is testing more than 10 prototype units of iPhone 8, and at-least one of the prototypes is said to sport curved OLED display with no bezels.
