Exclusive: Airtel Will Be Launching New Broadband Plans On January 31
The tarrif war between Airtel and Jio is now shifting from the battlefield of wireless mobile data to that of cable broadband connection. The Jio fanaticism has already robbed Airtel off several of it's customers.
Reliance has started testing out Jio's broadband connections in several cities such as Mumbai and Pune. Just like Jio's Preview Offer, only select users who have an invite are eligible for trying out Reliance Jio Fiber. According to Phone Radar, Jio Fiber plans will be starting from Rs 500, for which Reliance will be offering 600GB data at a speed of 15Mbps. On the contrary, Airtel's current broadband plans start at Rs 899 and include 10GB fair data usage (FDU) limit at 8Mbps, post which unlimited data can be consumed at a speed of 512Kbps. There is thus a wide gap in the plans being offered by Airtel and the plans which will be offered by Jio.
In order to counter Reliance Jio in the broadband sector, Airtel will be unveiling a wide array of plans with higher speeds and increased data limits, sources have told AndroGuider. Airtel is also keen on keeping it's existing customers happy, pertaining to which it will be offering them an increase in their existing fair data usage limits. The new schemes and plans are slated to be announced on January 31.
