Google is reportedly bringing low cost Android phones to the US
Google's Android One program was designed to bring low-cost Android devices to developing countries to provide high-quality Android experience. Android One devices come with stock Android and are free from bloats. Furthermore these devices also get regular security and software update straigh from Google.
The report says that first Android One smartphone will launch in the US by mid-2017. Google will also run an ad campaign to promote Android One program. The first Android phone hitting the US is expected to be priced in the $200-$300 price range, and will receive software and security update directly from Google for "two years from sale date."
Google has so far partnered with Micromax, Lava, Spice, Cherry, BQ, General Mobile, Infinix, i-mobile, QMobile and more for launching Android One devices in various markets. But it's not yet clear which handset maker will manufacture Android One devices coming to the US, but one of them could be LG.
