Lenovo P2, Honor 6X India launch date revealed

A couple of smartphones will launch in India later this month, and among them are the dual-camera totting Honor 6X and the battery centric Lenovo P2. Lenovo and Honor were teasing the launch of the smartphones for quite some time on their social-media channels, and now have revealed the launch date.

The Lenovo P2 will launch on January 11, and will be exclusive to Flipkart, while the Honor 6X launch is set for January 24.

To refresh the specs, the Lenovo P2 packs in a beefy 5000mAh battery with support for 24W quick charge. Thanks to the bigger battery, the phone also doubles as a power bank and can be used to charge other devices as well. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE and NFC. 

It runs Android Marshmallow and comes in two variants 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage, however, it is unclear, whether Lenovo will launch both or just one of them.

The Honor 6X global launch took place recently at CES 2017. It has 12MP PDAF/LED flash + 2MP (for depth of field and background blur) dual rear cameras, which is main highlight of the phone. The Honor 6X features 5.5-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display, octa-core Kirin 655 processor, 8MP front camera, Hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, fingerprint scanner, 3340mAh battery and fast charging support. 

It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1, but the brand has promised to upgrade the phone to Nougat in Q2, 2017. It will also be available in two version, 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage, but it's not known if both or only one version will make it to the Indian market.

The 3GB RAM variant is priced at an equivalent of Rs. 17,000, and the 4GB RAM model is priced at an equivalent of Rs. 20,500. This is not the Indian pricing, but it will be around that.

Apart from Lenovo P2 and Honor 6X, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4, vivo's dual-selfie camera (20MP + 8MP) boasting V5 Plus and Lenovo ZUK Edge will launch in the country as well later this month. Off course, we can expect domestic brand like Intex, Micromax, Lava, Karbonn and others to launch new phones as well.
