LG G6 will have waterproof design, non-removable battery, Google Assistant; new photo leaked
LG will announce the company's latest flagship smartphone, the G6, on February 26 at MWC in Barcelona. There has been a handful of details of LG's upcoming flagship, starting with CAD renders revealing the design to the use of Snapdragon 821 chip. Moreover, few days back, The Verge shared, the first alleged legitimate render of the G6.
Today more details of LG G6 via CNET, along with a new photo have hit the interwebs. As already known, LG will scrap the modular build with G6, instead use the usual phone design, which will be made of metal and glass, with curved corners and sport very slim bezels, carrying a screen-to body ratio greater than 90 percent.
According to Cnet, the G6 will have a waterproof case, and as a result, the battery will be non-removable. Further reiterating earlier report, the G6 will be powered by Snapdragon 821 chip instead of Snapdragon 835. The reason is Samsung has got its hands on the the initial quantities of the chip, and it won't be available for other OEMs, until Samsung ships the Galaxy S8.
The report says, that LG didn't want to hold up the launch of G6, so went ahead and used Snapdragon 821, which is found on OnePlus 3, ZUK Edge, LeEco's Le Pro 3, Google's Pixel and Pixel XL to name a few.
The LG G6 is also said to be the first non-Pixel device to ship with Google Assistant. LG's previous flagship, the V20 was the first smartphone to run Android Nougat, so there is no surprise here. The report also mentions that LG had plans to integrate Amazon's Alexa assistant, but now it is expected to be used in LG devices next year.
LG has already confirmed that the G6 will feature 5.7-inch QHD+ (2880 x 1440 pixels) LCD display with an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9, and the new aspect ratio according to the company will offer "more immersive viewing experience". Other specs, most likely to feature is USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, dual-rear cameras setup.
