[UPDATE: Root Addon] LineageOS Official Builds Are Live Now!
LineageOS had earlier confirmed that the official weekly builds of the ROM would be starting over the weekend. Even though Tuesday is now on the horizon, official builds of LineageOS are finally underway. The devices for which official builds of the ROM have now been made available are as follows:
- Nexus 6P (angler)
- Nexus 5X (bullhead)
- Moto G4/G4 Plus (athene)
- Nextbit Robin (ether)
- OnePlus One (bacon)
- Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T variant, codenamed 'd2att')
- Redmi 1S (armani)
- Xiaomi Mi 3w and Mi 4 (cancro)
Over the period of next two months, all the officially supported devices will be getting two builds of LineageOS, namely the 'weekly release' and the 'experimental release'. Post the period of two months, only weekly release builds will be available.
Through the medium of the experimental builds, users who are still using a CM13 or CM14.1 build can easily migrate over to LineageOS without the need of wiping the data partition. To put it in simpler words, if you are using an CM13 or CM14.1 on your device, then you can simply dirty flash the LineageOS build for your device over your existing ROM installation. You would then have migrated your device over to LineageOS, retaining all your apps and data at the same time.
Another thing which has to be noted here is that root access is not offered in the ROM. To obtain root, you will either have to flash SuperSU or obtain the root access flashable ZIP from LineageOS. The same can be found over on LineageOS's download portal which has been linked below.
UPDATE 26 January 2017
SuperUser addon is now available. Through the means of these addons, you can obtain root access on LineageOS. These are flashable ZIP files which can be dirty flashed over the ROM. The ZIP files are grouped as per the device's processor. Separate ZIPs are available for ARM, ARM64 and Intel x86 processor type gadgets. You can grab the flashable ZIPs directly from here.
