Moto G4/G4 Plus Receives Yet Another Update After Nougat 7.0 And No, It's Not 7.1.1
Moto has started rolling out another update for the Moto G4/G4 Plus with build number NPJ25.93-14. This update brings in the December Security Patch and fixes all those bugs and problems which had been reported by the users after the Nougat update.
The official Nougat update that the company had rolled out last month had the build number NPJ25.93-11 and this update jumps the build number to 93-14, which clearly indicates that this update primarily addresses the reported bugs and improves stability. The 114MB update also raises the security patch level from November to December (though, it should have been January in my opinion). But as Moto has promised quarterly security updates, we can't really complaint for that.
The following bugs are known to be fixed -
- 2G mode in Mobile Networks (Wasn't there after Marshmallow)
- Notification Volume (Was low after Marshmallow)
- UI Lags (Animations weren't very smooth after last month's Nougat update)
- Bluetooth Connection Time (Used to take much longer in the previous build)
Well, it seems like G4 users will not have much problems with the device now as Moto has done a good job here after listening to various problem from users at the community forum and addressing those nasty bugs in this small cum important update. The update seems to be live for Indian users only and thanks to Jio, the update is being installed very quickly on the handsets and users are already reporting positives for the update. This update also packs in a slightly modified boot animation that will be live on our YouTube Channel in sometime.
Though this update brings many fixes and improvements, there comes a new problem that we have exprienced only after updating to this new build. VoLTE had disappeared for once in our use and we were able to get it back by removing the sim card, putting it back in and then rebooting the device. If any of you come across the same situation, you can try this method. We are not really sure if this is any bug but considering the fact that this happened with us after updating to the 93-14 build, then it must have to do something with the latest update only.
As far as Nougat 7.1.1 is concerned, Moto X Play will be getting it this month. So, we do expect that Moto will be rolling out the Android 7.1.1 update in Feb-March for the Moto G4 series.
