Samsung Galaxy A 2017 series with water resistance, 16MP cameras gets official
Samsung is refreshing its Galaxy A line up giving it some major upgrades ã…¡ Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017.
The 2017 Galaxy A line up just like the 2016 edition retains the premium metal and glass design, but the back is more curvier and speaker grille is moved to the right side. It also gets IP68 certification, same rating as Galaxy S7, which means the phones can withstand rain, sweat, sand and dust. They also get Galaxy S7's Always On Display as well, so users can quickly glance at the time and calendar without waking up the device.
Coming to the specs, the Galaxy A3 2017 is an entry-level model featuring a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 2350mAh battery. It gets 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 8MP front facing camera.
The Galaxy A5 2017 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and 3000mAh battery. There's 16MP f/1.9 cameras at front and back "resulting in vibrant and clear photos and selfie even in low-light conditions" according to Samsung. While taking selfies from front camera the screen will work as a front facing flash module for brighter photos.
The Galaxy A7 2017 has the same specs as Galaxy A5 2017, but comes with a larger 5.7-inch Full HD display and a beefier 3600mAh battery.
They all include microSD card slot for storage expansion, USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, fingerprint scanner, fast charging, 4G LTE support, WiFi 802.11ac and NFC (Near Field Communication) & MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) support for Samsung Pay for safe and secure mobile payments.
The Galaxy A 2017 line up runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and comes in in Black Sky, Sand Blue, Blue Mist and Peach cloud colors. They will go on sale in Russia and select Asian markets later this month, followed by Europe in February.
