All three 2017 Apple iPhones will reportedly feature wireless charging

Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones later this year. Two of them will be the usual standard and Plus model, which this year is believed to be called the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Accompanying the two smartphones is the rumored iPhone 8, which will flaunt a more premium look with refreshed design, glass casing and OLED display.

One of the new features the new iPhones are rumored to get is wireless charging. Earlier report had indicated that only the iPhone 8, will get wireless charging functionality, but now notable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable source of iPhone related details, suggests otherwise. Kuo suggests that all the three iPhone this year will have wireless charging functionality.

However, the use of wireless charging specifically on the iPhone 8 is said to increase the internal temperature and to maintain the heat , Apple is developing a new 3D Touch module for the display of iPhone 8. The new 3D touch module will feature additional graphite sheet lamination, which will prevent the phone from overheating.  

“While we don’t expect general users to notice any difference, lamination of an additional graphite sheet is needed for better thermal control and, thus, steady operation; this is because FPCB is replaced with film, which is more sensitive to temperature change of the 3D touch sensor in OLED iPhone,” Kuo wrote in his research note.

The addition of the new 3D Touch module is said to increase the cost of production of iPhone 8 by up to $5.  A recent report suggested that the iPhone 8 would carry a much higher price tag starting at $1000 (Rs. 67,000), given the major upgrade it is expected to get.
