Dirty Unicorns Add Pixel Navigation Bar Animation To Smartbar
The Dirty Unicorns Interface (DUI) package, comprising of Smartbar, Fling and Pulse, was introduced by Dirty Unicorns in the Marshmallow iteration of their ROM. DUI was well received by the Android community and such was the popularity of this feature, that it was cherrypicked by many other ROMs as well.
Taking the spearhead forward, Dirty Unicorns have now added the Pixel navigation bar animation to Smartbar. As shown in the cover image, the Pixel navigation bar gained attention for the great visuals it gave when Google Assistant was triggered by long pressing the home button. The four coloured dots animate in the outward direction whenever the home button is long pressed on the Google Pixel/Pixel XL.
The Pixel animation can be enabled from the 'Button touch option' under Smartbar settings. Upon enabling the Pixel navigation animation, the four coloured dots will come into the play when any softkey is tapped on once. Using Smartbar, users can configure the long press, double tap and single tap action of each softkey except the back and the home button. Additionally, the placement and icon can be customised too. Users can also add new navigation bar buttons to their device's navigation bar too. You can take a quick look at the Pixel animation in Smartbar in action by watching this YouTube video.
The Pixel navigation bar animation will be included in the official builds of DU, marked 11.1. Other custom ROMs are expected to pull in this feature soon.
