Early version of Microsoft's Windows 10 Cloud operating system leaked

Microsoft is reportedly working on a light weight version of Windows 10 expected to be called Windows 10 Cloud, that is said to be successor of Windows RT.  Now alleged screenshots of a pre-release version of Windows 10 Cloud has hit the interwebs courtesy of Windows Blog Italia.

According to the source, Windows 10 Cloud looks visually identical to the regular version of Windows 10. But it can only run apps that are downloaded and installed from Windows Store, including those built with Microsoft's "Centennial" Desktop Bridge , which allows developers to port their Win32 apps.

For instance, Windows Blog Italia tried to install VLC, downloaded from the VLC website (and not from Windows Store) but received an error message that reads "This version of Windows was made to help protect you and your device by exclusively running Windows Store apps." However, Apps downloaded and installed (Slack, Evernote) from Windows Store worked fine.

Windows 10 Cloud is designed to run on low-cost affordable laptops and is Microsoft's answer to ChromeOS powered Chromebook, which is extremely popular in education sector.

Currently it is not known when Microsoft plans to release Windows 10 Cloud, but not that evidence of the OS have started surfacing, it can be expected to be announced alongside Windows 10 Creators update which is due in April.
