LineageOS Surpasses 500,000 Downloads, India Is The 'Most Active Country'
After putting a bullet through it's own head, Cyanogen had killed the very project that started it, along with itself. CyanogenMod however resurfaced in the form of LineageOS owing to great inputs and support from the community. LineageOS statistics now show that the project has crossed the landmark of half a million downloads.
At the time of writing this post, the download counter sat at 523,576. The device for which LineageOS has been downloaded mostly include the OnePlus One (bacon), Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (kendo), OnePlus 3, Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) and the Galaxy S5 (klte). It is however interesting to note that such is the popularity of the OnePlus One that it has almost twice the number of downloads than the second placed Redmi Note 3.
India, Canada, USA, Germany and Russia top the list of the most active countries in LineageOS statistics. India leads the pack with 38,982 downloads, which is interestingly lesser than the total number of downloads for OnePlus One alone (40,325).
The only Nexus device in the top ten is the Nexus 5. The very fact that two of OnePlus' flagships are present in the top five, is enough to highlight the popularity of OnePlus handsets in the Android community. OnePlus is thus the new 'Nexus'.
