Samsung Galaxy S8 unpacked event set for March 29
Samsung has set the date to unveil its highly anticipated flagship. The South Korean tech giant revealed that the Galaxy S8 will be unveiled at an event in New York on March 29. The event will kick off at 11am EDT (9:30pm IST) and will also be live streamed on Samsung.com/galaxy website.
Samsung’s announcement stated the Galaxy S8 “represents the start of a new era, by reshaping the device that has over the years become an indispensable tool in our everyday lives.”
The official teaser shared by Samsung confirms that the Galaxy S8 will have narrow top and bottom bezels resulting in a full screen design, similar to what LG did with its latest and greatest innovation, the G6.
For a quick recap of the rumored specs, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch display with QHD+ SAMOLED screen and dual curved edges. Both will feature Snapdragon 835/Exynost 8895 chipset depending on the market, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera and 8MP front camera.
Other rumored details include IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, fingerprint scanner, Iris scanner, dual-SIM slots, microSD card slot, Samsung Knox, 4G LTE, wireless charging and in-package earphones tune by AKG. Both will run Android Nougat, and Galaxy S8 is expected to pack 3000mAh battery, while Galaxy S8+ a 3500mAh battery.
According to rumors, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will hit the shelves in major market on April 21. We are almost one month away from the announcement, so expect more interesting leaks to hit the interwebs.
