WhatsApp's take on Disappearing Stories dubbed 'Status' officially announced, rollout starts today
So, the way you use WhatsApp will be going on a ride of change starting today. Thanks to the Twitter handle of WABetaInfo, we already knew that this feature was in works and today the company has announced the 'Status' feature officially on its blog. For those of you who are not known to this, Status in WhatsApp is essentially the disappearing stories that will last for a time frame of 24 hours. This feature is exactly like the Instagram stories, you can post images, videos and it will be visible to your WhatsApp contacts for 24 hours, but yes, with the privacy settings of your choice.
The Status feature is the reason why many people prefer to use social networks like Instagram and Snapchat. Now that WhatsApp has incorporated this feature too, it will be interesting to see how the tide turns. This new feature will also revamp WhatsApp's interface and all those old fashioned and seemingly boring text statuses (in which the most popular one was "Hey there! I am using WhatsApp.") won't be seen anymore and instead you will now be able to share images and videos in the name of Status. Basically, WhatsApp will now allow you to set videos, images and text as a part of your WhatsApp status.
Its WhatsApp's birthday on Feb 24 so, in order to celebrate it with the whole community the feature will be rolled out in batches or via updates starting today, so be patient to receive it. You can find the announcement in the link below and here's the sinppet from the same -
