Xiaomi Will Start Rolling Out Nougat Based MIUI 8.2 Global Stable ROM Tomorrow
Xiaomi has announced that it will be rolling out the stable variant of MIUI 8.2 to select devices starting tomorrow. Xiaomi has been testing the update on the Mi Mix and Redmi Note 4 since December. The stable update of Nougat based MIUI 8.2 was rolled out to the Xiaomi Mi 5 last year.
The list of the devices which will be getting the update are as follows:
- Mi 3
- Mi 4
- Mi 4i
- Mi Mix
- Mi Mix Prime
- Mi Note
- Redmi 1S
- Redmi Note 4G
The list surprisingly does not include the Redmi Note 3 and the Redmi Note 4. However since the Chinese smartphone maker has been testing out the update on Redmi Note 4, the stable variant of MIUI 8.2 would be made available to the Redmi Note 4 soon. We expect the same treatment for the Redmi Note 3 as well.
MIUI 8.2 should be based on Android's latest offering of Nougat. We strongly stand by this claim because Xiaomi had upgraded it's 2016 flagship Mi 5 to Nougat 7.0 based MIUI 8.2 recently. Moreover the company has put out a teaser on their Weiber account showing an upward arrow (which might point to an upgrade in the Android version) and the text "See you tomorrow". Whatever MIUI 8.2 might be based on, we certainly look forward to the new features and customizations that this update packs in. We will keep you updated about the same.
