Google confirms they will continue producing laptops and smartphones in 2017
Recently there has been quite a buzz about Google stopping the production of their Chromebook laptops but now Rick Osterloh has confirmed that the company will not cease manufacturing their portable computers. There is also some fresh info from Google promising that the Pixel smartphone lineup will be joined by new devices this year, too.
During a meeting at MWC 2017, Rick Osterloh, Google's hardware SVP, stated that the company from Mountain View had "no plans for Google-branded laptops." By the majority this was received as a warning that the death of Google's portable computers was near. Now the story is turning around again, though, with Rick Osterloh's new post on Twitter reassuring us that the company simply had "no plans to share at this time." This means that we can expect new Google Chromebook devices including the rumoured Chromebook Pixel 3 which could run Andromeda OS (more about which you can read here).
Moving on to the second story, in an interview with Android Police Google stated they would continue producing their flagship Pixel devices this year with no plans to manufacture mid-range or low-end devices under the same branding.
