Google announces Family Link, a parental control tool for Android
Up until now, Google didn't allow children under 13 to create and use Google accounts. Now the company has announced its new Family Link service so kids don't have to fake their age online (let's admit it, they do so).
The tool is currently only available on Nougat but since it is made by the company behind this OS, it is surprisingly powerful. Family Link lets parents easily set up accounts for their kids and then control what websites they visit, what apps they download and use, how long they use their smart devices, how they rate apps, and more. There is a $0.30 payment when the service is being set up for information privacy reasons.
After a kid reaches the age of 13, Family Link can still be used without any limitations but Google allows the child to convert their account to a normal one.
