Snapdragon 835 powered HTC U will feature touch-sensitive frame
HTC's first flagship phone of 2017, the U Ultra was powered by Snapdragon 821 chip, due to shortage of Snapdragon 835. Now the company is gearing up to launch its Snapdragon 835 powered flagship.
The phone codenamed Ocean will launch by the name HTC U, will be powered by Snapdragon 835 processor and run Android 7.1 Nougat with Sense 9 UI on top.
The HTC U's standout feature is not a dual camera system or bezel-less design, which is becoming a trend among smartphone makers now a days. Instead, HTC U's magic feature will be located in its metal frames, which is embedded with sensors. The feature is called Edge Sense, and will allow users to control numerous, customizable actions with gestures like squeezing or swiping using the left and right edges of the screen.
As for the other specs, the HTC U will feature 5.5-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage (plus microSD card slot for storage expansion), 12MP Sony IMX362 rear camera and 16MP Sony IMX351 selfie camera.
The HTC U is expected to be unveiled in April, and will get a global release in early May.
