Chat Pinning Comes To WhatsApp But Only In Beta For Now

WhatsApp has been developing many new features lately, with some of them still under development, WhatsApp is trying the usual fashion of introducing the features and that is first on the beta version and later when all things are confirmed fine, on the stable version. One such feature was under development till now, but the latest beta of WhatsApp makes the feature live. Here, we are talking about Chat Pinning or Pin Chats.

This feature is now live in WhatsApp Beta v2.17.163 and can be found by long pressing on any of the chats you want to pin and there you have the Pin icon with archive, delete and mute/unmute options.

The main aim of this feature is that it sticks the chat that you pinned, at the top and it remains at the top of the chat list even when any new message arrives regardless of any contact. Once upinned, new message from new conversation will then come at the top.

Right now, you can pin maximum 3 chats, but let's hope the number will increase in the near future like we saw with media sharing which had a limit of 10 picture at once and now one can share 30 at once.

Upinning the chat follows the same process, just long press the pinned chat and you will the unpin icon. If you're enrolled as a beta tester of WhatsApp on Play Store, just update your app. Also the APK from APKMirror for the same can be found here.

The feature is now live on WhatsApp Web and Desktop too.
