Elephone Announces Nougat 7.0 Update For The Europe and Asia P9000

Hong Kong based OEM Elephone has announced the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Asian and European variants of the P9000. The update comes after more than eight months since Google had released the stable version of Nougat. Elephone did acknowledge that they had missed several deadlines for releasing the update. They accorded the reason for the delayed update to fixing major issues in the fingerprint sensor and in optimizing the system.

Apart from bringing the entire array of features offered by Nougat, Elephone claims that the update also optimizes the fingerprint sensor. Various users had reported issues with the fingerprint scanner on Marshmallow.

To upgrade your Elephone P9000 to Nougat, you will have to flash the firmware update on your phone manually. The update is not available via OTA. I do understand that sounds absurd, but here is what Elephone had to say about the lack of OTA upgrade.

After the firmware being released, we have heard from you that the lack of OTA upgrade is a problem. We feel deeply sorry for that. Due to the situation that MEDIATEK can not provide us the solution to the OTA problem, and technically there is a limit in the OTA upgrade, so presently we are unable to send you the push. But for you to enjoy the Nougat as soon as possible, we decide to provide you with the flashtool. You can take a flash to enjoy it if in need. 
Till now some of you have updated their system, and told us the updated system works stably. Besides, the flash will be more stable than OTA upgrade. Therefore, we recommend you to take a flash. The tutorial of flash is in our forum. If there is any problem, you can discuss it in the forum or leave it in our social media channels.
