Samsung Galaxy Note 8 rumored to have dual-cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will hit the markets on April 21 (May 5 India), but word on Samsung's next major flagship is already out. Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has revealed a few details of Samsung's upcoming flagship, the Galaxy Note 8.
In a note released to investors, Kuo said that Galaxy Note 8 will include a dual-camera setup, a feature that was missing on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. It's worth mentioning that Samsung experimented with dual-cameras on Galaxy S8, but ditched the idea, because the company didn't find "real value for it yet." Few days back one of the prototype of dual-camera Galaxy S8 had surfaced online, and it appears like Samsung saved the feature for the Note line up. Kuo also mentioned that the addition of dual-cameras will be the most important upgrade in Galaxy Note 8.
According to Kuo, Galaxy Note 8's dual-cameras will be similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, with a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 13MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Both lens will offer six-element lenses and optical image stabilization. However Note 8's dual-camera offering will be much better than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, and likely to match that of the upcoming OLED iPhone (rumored to be called iPhone 8).
Kuo further states that Note 8 will sports a massive 6.4-inch OLED display, and like Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ get QHD+ (1440 x 2960 pixels) with 18:5:9 aspect ratio and Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 chipset depending on the market.
Lastly, Kuo also shared details of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ market feedback, stating it is better than expected, thanks to the full-screen design. For this reason, KGI is revising their earlier shipment predictions of 40 to 45 million units to 50 to 55 million units.
